15:30 pm 10/16/2019
Gila, Tucson Convention Center

This workshop will provide an opportunity to explore active learning strategies to support students with hands on learning techniques using 21st Century technology and will help support collaborative learning concepts applied by Pima Community College faculty to enhance critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills for students.

Kyley Segers teaches a variety of math and honors classes at Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona. A product of community college in her own education, Kyley strongly believes in their mission to serve the community and provide a high-quality education for all learners. For the past several years, Kyley has been incorporating Inquiry-Based Learning into her curriculum, an empirically validated teaching method that de-emphasizes the role of the instructor as the “sage on the stage” and instead encourages students to deeply engage with the mathematics and collaborate with their peers to authentically learn.
