In a two-hour, hands-on workshop participants generate an original story and pitch materials for a three-minute short film by utilizing lessons from Pixar in a Box—The Art of Storytelling. Through an exploration of the storytelling process learn how this resource can be used in both classroom and informal educational settings to promote the development of 21st century skills such as creativity, curiosity, effective communication, collaboration, group problem solving, and pitching and feedback.
Mary Dempsey has been working at St Joseph Catholic School since 2006
as the Visual Art teacher for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. Mary
is a graduate of the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a degree
in Fine Arts and Art History and worked as a Set Painter and Set Dresser
for Carolco Film Studios. While her children were young she owned and
operated a children’s fitness and nutrition program called Stretch-n-Grow
before becoming a full time Art teacher in her hometown Huntington WV.
