Public art is critical for cities and can be a phenomenal experience for the artists who make them. However, many artists are unfamiliar with the process of applying for and successfully winning public art grants and bids. Simon Donovan is a multi-media artist living in Tucson. He makes his living as a public artist. He has over twenty-five large-scale public commissions around the country. Locally he is known primarily for the ‘Diamondback Bridge’, and most recently for ‘Unity’, a collaboration with Ben Olmstead on Grant Road. Born in Boston, MA, he received a BFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design and a MFA in New Media from the Transart Institute in Berlin, Germany
