The University of Arizona Women’s Hackathon is a women-founded, non- competitive, free hackathon designed by and for women and allies. The event is open to campus and community members from high school youth to senior citizens. Since its inaugural year in 2015, the Women’s Hackathon served as the only women’s-led hackathon in the Southwest. In 2017, the Hackathon expanded to invite attendees across all gender identities and expressions to participate, while maintaining its commitment to the mission. The Women’s Hackathon includes intensive design thinking/rapid prototyping training, workshops around topics like coding, 3D modeling, drones, virtual reality, bot building, group hack time, mentoring, and a final project presentation and awards ceremony.
